TR4 Control Program Update

The TR4 program, under industry management, has now delivered surveillance across 3,449 hectares.

Due to the low return rate of the information exchange form that was sent by Biosecurity Queensland, surveillance for TR4 has been paused.

We need a lot more growers to participate in this Program for effective surveillance to continue.

Early detection through regular surveillance, and the efforts of growers, industry and BQ has effectively controlled and contained the disease to 9 properties in the Tully Valley over the past 9 years. We need to keep our industry strong by fighting this disease together.

Signing and returning the information exchange form that was sent by Biosecurity Queensland (DAF) is the first step to getting on board.

We'd like to acknowledge and thank growers who have signed and returned their forms and allowed surveillance on their properties. If you have not received a copy of the form, please contact us.

To help ABGC protect the industry, we encourage growers and the broader community to continue to report suspect plants to BQ on 13 25 23.

We are working closely with BQ to adapt the current TR4 Program, to meet the needs of growers and the entire banana industry. ABGC will work closely with growers in the coming months to get feedback about the program's operations and to better understand how growers are implementing biosecurity to keep TR4 off their farm.
