How you can help protect our banana industry
Panama disease is the greatest threat to banana production worldwide. There’s a lot at stake – 95% of Australia’s bananas are grown in Far North Queensland. This industry supports our vibrant community with jobs and produce.

Spread the word - not the disease
Talk to people. Let them know we have a disease that could have a huge impact on our banana industry and our community.
- Educate children to not cut through banana farms when playing
- Tell visitors not to enter banana farms – even to take a photo!
- Let people know who are looking for work to call the grower first – never enter a banana farm without permission
- And if you visit a banana farm with permission, always follow farm rules.
