Here’s what to do if you’re a banana farm worker

No matter if you work in your local community or you are here on a work visa, you can play your part to protect your job and the banana industry.

Panama TR4 is one of the greatest threats worldwide to banana production.

As a farm worker you are on the front-line and it’s critical that you follow your farm’s biosecurity rules. This will protect the farm, your job and prevent the spread of Panama TR4.

If you are looking for work on a farm – dial ahead, don’t drop in. Never enter a banana farm without permission.

Here’s some tips on how you can protect our banana farms from Panama TR4:

  • Follow all on-farm biosecurity rules.

  • Come clean and leave clean. A speck of dirt can move the disease.

  • Keep your eyes peeled for plants showing signs of Panama TR4.

  • Educate yourself about the disease and how it’s spread.
